MK-677 (Ibutamoren)

Overview

  • [educational] A non-peptide, orally-bioavailable small molecule that activates the same growth-hormone-secretagogue receptor (GHSR-1A) as the GHRPs. Note: not a peptide — modeled here as a kb-compound. — GH selection guide

Mechanism & effects

  • [educational] Most human data of any GHRP-class agent (incl. a 500+ patient Alzheimer’s year-long trial); +70% IGF-1 in older adults. Long half-life → raises trough GH ~3.5× (non-physiologic, like CJC-DAC) plus pulse amplitude. Oral 20–30 mg nightly. — GH selection guide

Cautions

  • [warning] Insulin resistance (+5 glucose, +0.2 A1C over 2 yr), appetite stimulation, mild ACTH/cortisol/prolactin; one trial stopped for CHF risk. Less physiologic than Ipamorelin. In FDA stage-3 pipeline.
