Fasting (Time-Restricted Eating)
What it is
- Caloric restriction windows — from daily time-restricted eating to longer fasts.
How it works
- Low insulin/glucose → AMPK activation, raised endogenous GH (somatostatin low), increased fat oxidation, autophagy, and a hormetic adaptation that MOTS-C partly mimics (‘exercise/fasting in a vial’).
Goal relevance
- Fat loss + metabolic/longevity; explains why pre-sleep and morning peptide dosing is timed away from food (food blunts the GH response).
How to do it
- e.g. a daily eating window; avoid eating ~2–4 h before a pre-sleep GH peptide.
Cautions
- Can erode lean mass / training performance if too aggressive; not for everyone.
